A Passion for Reaching the Nations
Brandon Fisher
The Old Testament primarily tells the story of God’s dealings with the people of Israel. But even in this story we find that God cares about the rest of the nations as well. He never intends his blessing and grace to stop with his people, but rather wants it to overflow in an effort to draw the nations to himself. God is on a mission to see his glory displayed and enjoyed among people from all the nations. He is accomplishing that mission. He will see it through to fulfillment. And we get the joyful privilege of being a part of the mission both globally and locally in our own community.
Psalm 67

A Passion for Generosity
Kyle Kauffman
God is an incredibly generous God. He owes us nothing and yet he gives us life, and breath, and all that we have. All that we truly deserve is judgment for our sin, yet God regularly displays his grace in how he generously provides for us. We glorify God not only by acknowledging His generosity, but also in being generous with all that he’s given us. We want to be a people who joyfully worship God by giving freely to meet the needs of others and see the gospel advance. We want to be a people who give generously so that in our generosity people might come to know the generous God who is behind all we have.
Psalm 112

All the Small Things
Kyle Kauffman
It’s easy to believe that only those who do great things for God really make a difference in this world. It’s really easy to get discouraged when we are bogged down with all sorts of small things. It’s even easier to feel discouraged when it feels like all those small things are making absolutely no difference. We wonder if it’s worth it. We wonder if we should keep going. Zechariah 4 is a chapter that’s written to encourage us in the midst of all the small acts of ministry that we do here on earth. It’s written to show us that God will accomplish his purposes for the world through the ordinary acts of ordinary people like you and me.
Zechariah 4:1-14

Opposition Ahead
Kyle Kauffman
Have you ever noticed that when you set out to obey God it’s rarely easy? The people of Israel met all sorts of opposition in their efforts to build the temple. They started the task with enthusiasm, but soon found that it was both far more difficult and far less rewarding than they thought it would be. When we seek to obey God in some area, isn’t it often a similar story. Praying with our families is difficult. Personal Worship doesn’t seem to produce immediate results. The new ministry we started serving in was exciting at first, but now it seems every week presents a new challenge. The neighbors we are trying to reach want nothing to do with us. God does not promise that we will not face opposition in this life as we seek to obey him, but he does promise to overcome all opposition in the end, and in the meantime to let nothing face us that isn’t ordained by him.
Zechariah 1:18-2:13

The Filter
Joel Wood
We need to be discerning in who we give our ears and or attention to. Just because people sound good does not mean we should listen to them. Just because people are saying what we like does not mean we should listen to them. Discernment on what voices and what content we allow into our lives takes work, but is worth the effort. We find joy in discerning what is true and allowing that to shape our life and discerning what is false and avoiding that.
1 John 4:1-6
