Forsaken

Our biggest problem is that we are sinners and because we are sinners, we deserve to both have God pour out his wrath on us and abandon us. Sin must be dealt with. This is why Jesus had to die. He took on the full weight of God’s punishment and wrath toward sin on the cross. He was our substitute bearing God’s wrath in our place. We either stand underneath the cross, or we still stand underneath God’s wrath. And the beauty of the cross is that because Jesus fully drank the cup of God’s wrath we now drink fully of God’s favor. We no longer live under the fear of wrath, but live under the delight of God’s acceptance of us. As such we freed to enjoy God and to know that he will never leave or forsake us.
